Expanding SriLankan Airlines in Pakistan
Since July 2012, TCB Aviation has been the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Sri Lankan Airlines in Pakistan, helping it transform from a minimal presence to a leading airline in the region. Initially operating only three weekly flights, Sri Lankan Airlines, under TCB Aviation’s strategic guidance and strong market positioning, expanded to daily operations from Karachi.
Additionally, we played a crucial role in introducing Sri Lankan Airlines to the North Pakistani market, successfully launching operations in Lahore. Starting with two flights a week, the frequency soon increased to four, strengthening the airline’s footprint in Pakistan.
Unlocking New Routes & Opportunities
TCB Aviation’s expertise in aviation negotiations led to the successful approval of 5th/6th freedom rights for Sri Lankan Airlines by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA). This significant achievement allowed the airline to operate on the lucrative Colombo-Karachi-London route, providing passengers with more travel options.
Additionally, we secured permission for an aircraft upgrade from A-320 to A-330, enhancing passenger capacity and service quality. This development not only boosted Sri Lankan Airlines’ business in Pakistan but also positioned it as a preferred choice for travelers seeking seamless international connections.
Supporting Aviation Growth with Leasing Solutions
In 2016, TCB Aviation successfully facilitated a wet lease agreement between Sri Lankan Airlines and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), enabling the launch of PIA’s Premier Service.
This high-profile initiative saw the introduction of A-330 aircraft for premium travel, enhancing PIA’s competitive standing in the international aviation sector. Through our in-depth industry knowledge and strong network, we ensured a smooth agreement that provided PIA with a high-quality aircraft, operational support, and an upgraded travel experience for its passengers. This achievement showcased our ability to execute complex aviation agreements that deliver tangible business results.
Building Mihin Lanka’s Market Presence
TCB Aviation played a crucial role in the successful market entry and expansion of Mihin Lanka in Pakistan. When Mihin Lanka entered the market in November 2014, it had no prior recognition in Pakistan. Through our expertise in airline representation, branding, and travel agency engagement, we positioned Mihin Lanka as a competitive airline.
Initially operating just two flights a week from Lahore, our strategic approach helped increase the frequency to five weekly flights, significantly improving passenger traffic. Despite Mihin Lanka’s global merger with Sri Lankan Airlines in 2016, our efforts ensured that it gained a strong foothold in Pakistan’s aviation sector during its operational years.
